Freedom Boat Club has postponed its community blood drive that had been scheduled for Saturday, April 11 at its Jacksonville Beach location at Beach Marine. The boat club will reschedule its annual event as soon as possible.
“We had partnered with Mavi Waterfront Bar & Grill to offer a discount to those who donated blood and since the restaurant is closed for now and things are so uncertain, we thought it best to reschedule the blood drive to another time,” said Lisa Almeida, co-owner of Freedom Boat Club Jacksonville. “We will definitely let everyone know as soon as we have a new date but in the meantime, we encourage people to donate blood if they can as our local blood banks still need you.”
Freedom Boat Club partners each year with OneBlood to help the blood bank keep up the supply for local hospitals. OneBlood is currently not able to accommodate walk-ins for blood donations but encourages donors to visit its bloodmobile at a number of locations which can be found at oneblood.org.
OneBlood is a nonprofit organization responsible for providing safe, available and affordable blood to more than 200 hospital partners and their patients throughout most of Florida, parts of Georgia, Alabama and South Carolina.
