LifeSouth Celebrates National Donor Days February 14-17

Published Thursday, February 13, 2020

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, a nonprofit blood bank that serves as the primary provider of blood to many Northeast Florida hospitals, will celebrate National Donor Days from February 14 through 17 at its donor centers and blood drives.

National Donor Day is observed every year on February 14 to raise awareness for organ, eye and tissue donation, as well as to celebrate all who give the gift of life through the donation of blood, platelets and bone marrow. In addition to the blood used during organ transplant procedures, organ recipients may require whole blood or platelet transfusions as part of their ongoing care.

All donors who give during the National Donor Days promotion will receive a $10 electronic gift card and a T-shirt, while supplies last.

“To freely give of yourself to benefit a stranger is the ultimate example of love in action. LifeSouth is proud to recognize the special people in our community who save lives right here in Northeast Florida by selflessly donating blood and platelets that go to our local hospitals,” said Dave Halverson, District Director of LifeSouth.
