Jacksonville Children's Chorus Welcomes Violet Bell for Fall "Southern Expressions" Concert

Published Thursday, September 19, 2019
The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus kicks off their 25th Anniversary Season as its performance choirs take to the stage performing Southern-inspired music along with guest artist Violet Bell, a duo performing music inspired from folk, soul, and bluegrass music.
The concert will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2019, 7:00pm atHendricks Avenue Baptist Church, 4001 Hendricks Avenue, 32207 in San Marco. The concert event is proudly sponsored by Publix Supermarket Charities.
Based out of Chapel Hill NC, Violet Bell’s Lizzy Ross and Omar Ruiz-Lopez draw inspiration from the natural world, ancient mythology and the Piedmont’s green hills. The duo honed their strong onstage chemistry playing hundreds of shows from Montreal to Miami since forming in 2016.
Their latest album releasing October 10, 2019,Honey in My Heart, is vibrant, full of ebbing and flowing emotion; full of passion, fear, hope, angst, frustration, humor — all the messy emotions comprising the worthwhile chaos of the human experience. Stylistically, the songs take familiar Americana textures and bend them in surprising directions. The album draws from all over the spectrum, ranging from folky psychedelia to subtle jazz and experimental indie-pop. Honey in My Heart is what happens when two musicians at the top of their craft share the same sandbox. More info about the duo can be found at and visit for their song “Dear One”.
President and Artistic Director for the JCC, Darren Dailey, says “Violet Bell is a spirited, warm and spontaneous duo who fuses classical, soul, bluegrass, jazz, old-time and blues. Violet Bell brings together the rich musical diversity of the contemporary southern U.S.”
Tickets to the event are $25 and available at or by phone at 904-353-1636, ext. 2. Group discounts are available. Please call the JCC office for details.
Proceeds from the concert will benefit The Jacksonville Children's Chorus' ongoing programming and scholarship funds.
