JAX Chamber Board of Directors Selects Ray Driver as 2021 Chamber Chair

Published Thursday, September 12, 2019

The JAX Chamber Board of Directors on Thursday selected G. Ray Driver, Jr. as 2021 Chamber Chair.

Driver, an attorney and founding partner of Driver, McAfee, Hawthorne and Diebenow, has served for many years on the JAX Chamber Board of Directors and has held several key volunteer leadership roles. Driver currently is Chair of JAXUSA Partnership, the economic development arm of the Chamber, and has previously served as General Counsel.

“Ray has served in nearly every volunteer role we have – he knows the Chamber inside and out,” JAX Chamber President and CEO Daniel Davis said. “Ray is a small business owner who has helped countless businesses grow and thrive in our community. He’s well-prepared to serve as our Chair and will be an outstanding leader for our 3,000 members.”

The Chamber traditionally selects its chair more than a year in advance. In the role as Chair-elect, Driver will lead the 2020 Leadership Trip. Henry Brown, CEO of Miller Electric, is Chair-elect this year and will serve as Chair of the Board of Directors in 2020.

“We are fortunate to have a strong, dedicated business community with leaders who invest their time to better our city – that’s what makes the Chamber successful,” Driver said. “I am honored by the opportunity to help lead this organization and look forward to working closely with Henry and Daniel over the next year.”

Driver has focused on corporate law for more than two decades, representing clients in business acquisitions and mergers, as well as counseling clients on securing capital. In his role as JAXUSA Partnership Chair, Driver is active in recruiting companies to invest and expand their operations in Northeast Florida.

Driver serves on several boards, including the Board of Trustees for Jacksonville University and the Board of Directors for the Jacksonville Transportation Authority. Driver earned his BBA in Accounting degree from the University of Montevallo, along with his Master of Accounting and Juris Doctor degrees from the University of Florida.

The remainder of the 2020 JAX Chamber Board of Directors will be finalized later this year.
