Celebrating 15 years of service to youth and families at the EmpowerJAX Mixer

Published Friday, August 23, 2019

Empowerment Resources, Inc. (ERI) is celebrating 15 years of serving youth and families in Northeast Florida through Parenting Education Seminars, a Rites-Of-Passage and Mentoring program for girls and Life Skills workshops. ERI has served more than 1,200 youth and families with programs and services that positively impact the whole family. ERI will be hosting EmpowerJAX Mixer on Tuesday, August 27 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the Aloft Jacksonville at Tapestry Park to share the organization’s impact, highlight volunteer engagement opportunities and celebrate the 15th anniversary.

EmpowerJAX Mixer will be a fun-filled evening of networking, drinks, lawn games, billiards and complimentary appetizers while they last. ERI is recruiting for leadership members, mentors and interns to serve as a Communications Ambassador and a Youth and Family Program Coordinator. Both of these positions offer a great experience and benefits for those interested in gaining or learning skills in the family engagement and nonprofit sector.

“When Journey Into Womanhood, a rites-of-passage program started 15 years ago, my short-term goal was to create a summer program to fill in a gap for teen girls, ages 9 to 17. JIW has exceeded my expectations,” shares Elexia Coleman-Moss, Executive Director and Founder. To date, 38 JIW girls have graduated from the program and high school, with 94% of alumnae attending college. 18 JIW girls have graduated with bachelor degrees.
