Jacksonville Children’s Chorus (JCC) Member Awarded Full Tuition Scholarship to JU

The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus (JCC) member and 2019 Ridgeview High School graduate, Dale Patrick, was awarded the JCC Kinne Scholarship to Jacksonville University.

On May 2nd, at the End of Year Celebration at Southside United Methodist Church Family Life Center, Patrick was selected as the recipient of the 2019 JCC Kinne Scholarship by JCC’s President and Artistic Director, Darren Dailey. The scholarship, named after Dr. Frances B. Kinne, Chancellor Emeritus and forty-year friend and benefactor to Jacksonville University, provides for 4-year, full-tuition support for an academically and musically gifted JCC alumni.

When asked about receiving the scholarship, Patrick had this to say, "This scholarship has given me the opportunity to follow my dreams, as well as to have the funds to go to an amazing college like JU without worry of the massive debt that many others my age will have to deal with.” Patrick continued to say, “With the help of the JCC and this scholarship provided by JU, I'll be able to continue my studies with relative ease. And that, without a doubt, has changed my life and improved my future."

The JCC has strict and rigorous guidelines regarding the qualifications of the Kinne Scholarship, including consecutive JCC Touring Choir membership, JCC artistic staff recommendation, JU Choral Ensembles, volunteer hours, and pre-acceptance into JU and Honor’s program.

JCC President and Artistic Director, Darren Dailey, had this to say about Patrick’s time with the JCC, “During my 30 years of experience in education, Dale ranks in the top one percent of those with whom I have worked.” Dailey continued, “Because of this scholarship, Dale will not have to worry as much about financial issues and can focus on his studies and giving back to the community.”
