New Durbin Park Walmart Supercenter Opens Doors To Community

Free Online Grocery Pickup service and more debuts in time for the holidays

A new Walmart Supercenter at 845 Durbin Pavilion Drive in St. Johns has been custom designed to provide another convenient option for local residents while continuing to offer everyday low prices on quality products just in time for the holidays. Residents got their first peek at the store following a grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Nov. 7.

 

“Our store is ready to serve the needs of residents in north St. Johns County in new and exciting ways,” said Store Manager Bobbi Jo Smith. “At Walmart, we’ve made shopping easier and more convenient than ever before with services like our FREE online grocery pickup, and we’re excited to be bringing this new service to even more residents in the area.”

 

The new store brings a broad assortment of fresh groceries and general merchandise at everyday low prices, along with the added convenience of Walmart’s free Online Grocery Pickup service, just in time for the holidays.

Customers will also enjoy expanded deli and bakery departments, an expanded apparel department featuring all new apparel lines (George, Time and Tru, Terra & Sky and Wonder Nation), a full-service vision center, a full pharmacy with drive-thru and more. The store also offers a full-service Walmart MoneyCenter.

 

Fresh, Affordable Produce, Groceries, Meals and More

The Walmart Supercenter will include a full grocery department featuring a large selection of fresh organics, crisp greens and the finest cuts of USDA choice meats. The large deli and bakery departments will offer a wide variety of fresh breads, deli meats and cheeses, on-the-go hot and cold meals and single-serve items.

 

Pharmacists Ready To Serve

Walmart pharmacists are ready to assist customers with prescriptions, immunizations, product questions and other health services. The drive-thru pharmacy window makes prescription drop off and pick-up quick and easy. St. Johns residents can easily transfer prescriptions and order refills on the go with the Walmart mobile app.

 

Opening with FREE Online Grocery Pickup

With Walmart’s free Online Grocery Pickup service, residents will be able to order groceries online and pick them up without ever having to unbuckle their seatbelts. They select from up to 40,000 online grocery items and choose the best time to pick their items up. A Walmart personal shopper loads the groceries into the customer’s vehicle upon arrival – all at no additional cost. And with the store’s integrated pickup, customers with online grocery orders can have their pharmacy prescriptions brought out to their vehicle at the same time.

 

Community Giving

Walmart is committed to serving the St. Johns community and, as part of the grand opening, will support Creekside High School, Bartram Trail High School, and the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office with a combined $10,000 in grants.

 

Grand Opening

The festivities began with a ribbon-cutting on Wednesday, Nov. 7, and featured performances by local schools like Creekside High School as well as a vendor showcase with food samples.

 

St. Johns residents are also invited to attend these additional grand opening events:

  • Movie Night featuring the Incredibles 2 movie, food samples, crafts, giveaways and sidewalk games.
    • Friday, Nov. 9, 5:30-9:30 p.m.
  • Harvest Festival featuring samples, crafts, giveaways and face painting.
    • Sunday, Nov. 18, noon-6 p.m.

 

Shop How, Where and When You Want: Convenience Offerings

Walmart is innovating the shopping experience like no one else – so customers can shop when and how they want:

  • Customers of the Durbin Park Walmart Supercenter can shop nearly 67 million items on com or through a new partnership with Google Express.
  • Walmart also gives customers the power of choice; Pickup Discount gives customers a discount on select items if they choose to pick up their Walmart.com order at a store.
  • In addition, free 2-Day shipping is offered with no extra cost for orders of $35 or more.
  • The Walmart mobile app for iPhone and Android makes shopping easier than ever. By using the Walmart mobile app, customers can create shopping lists, search the location of items in their store, check weekly ads and prices, save e-receipts and shop com.
  • Express Services is a new feature in the Walmart app that is combined with in-store Express Lanes in most stores to help expedite customers’ Money Services transactions and includes Pharmacy Services.

Job Opportunities at Walmart

The store will employ approximately 350 associates for full- and part-time positions within the store. Applicants interested in careers at Walmart can apply at a store’s hiring kiosk or online at Walmartcareers.com. At Walmart, more than 75 percent of store management teams started as hourly associates in stores.

 

Starting in 2015, Walmart began making a $2.7 billion investment over a two-year period in higher wages, more scheduling choices and further training for its associates. As part of increased wages across the company, the average full-time hourly associate now makes $13.94 an hour in Florida.
