JAXBIZ Endorses Nick Howland for Duval County School Board

Published Thursday, June 14, 2018

JAXBIZ, the nonpartisan political organization affiliated with JAX Chamber, has endorsed business leader and Navy veteran Nick Howland for the open District 2 seat on the Duval County School Board.

Howland is President of the Americas for 3SI Group, a global manufacturer of marine safety and supply equipment. Howland and his wife Malou have two sons attending Duval County Public Schools.

“Nick is a proven leader and has both the business background and vested interest in our public schools that make him an ideal Duval County School Board member,” JAXBIZ Chair Dane Grey said. “We thank Nick for his willingness to run for office and serve in this important role.”

Howland graduated from Duke University in 1995 and entered the U.S. Navy, where he served as a surface warfare officer. Following his military service, Howland worked in business development in Atlanta and Washington D.C., and earned his Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago before settling in Jacksonville in 2007.

Howland served on the Jacksonville Environmental Protection Board from 2009-2017 and also served on the board of the First Coast Manufacturers Association.

High-quality public education for Jacksonville families is critical for the community and a top priority for JAX Chamber. JAXBIZ has already endorsed in the two other open seats on the Duval County School Board:

  • District 4: Darryl Willie
  • District 6: Dave Chauncey

District 2 includes the Beaches communities and neighborhoods just west of the Intracoastal Waterway. The primary election for Duval County School Board is in August.
