Jumbo Shrimp will host July 2 Independence Day Picnic

Catch on the field and an all-you-can-eat buffet with special corn-on-the-cob and apple pie for families July 2

Published Tuesday, June 27, 2017

Families on the First Coast can celebrate the weekend leading to Independence Day with a picnic as American as apple pie at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville Sunday, July 2, when the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp host an all-you-can-eat picnic and pregame catch on the field for the 3:05 p.m. Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNday game with the Mobile BayBears.

Individuals and families may now log onto a special link at ( enter password “applepie”) to purchase July 2 Independence Day Picnic packages that include reserved seats and the all-you-can-eat buffet – with special additions of corn on the cob and apple pie – in the third-base side Sea Best Shrimp Deck from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 2. Deadline for picnic package orders is Friday, June 30, or until sold out.

Normally only served to groups of 24 or more people, the picnic menu of all-you-can-eat hamburgers, hot dogs, cole slaw, beans, cookies, tea and lemonade, with specialty corn on the cob and apple pie, is available for individuals and families to purchase. Reservation space is limited. Packages are $20 per person and include access to the all-you-can-eat buffet and a reserved seat for the Jumbo Shrimp’s 3:05 p.m. game. Children ages 3 and under who do not require a seat do not need a ticket.

As part of another Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNday, kids and their families can play catch on the field when gates open at 2 p.m. Free face painting, balloon animals, and kids crafts activities will be available in the Wolfson Children’s Hospital Kids Zone. Following the game, kids 12 and under can run the bases.

UP NEXT: The Jumbo Shrimp return to the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville Wednesday at 7:05 p.m. against Mobile. Gates open at 6 p.m. for the Date Night Special, when a package of two tickets, two hot dogs, two sodas and popcorn is just $20 at the box office windows. It is also Get JAX’ed Night, featuring local fitness centers and individuals competing in on-field and in-stadium contests.
