Sundays always include extra fun for kids at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville, and on Sunday, June 4, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are joining Major League Baseball and Minor League Baseball in their annual ‘PLAY BALL WEEKEND’ to engage young baseball fans and celebrate the continued support of youth participation in baseball and softball.


The weekend joins teams across the country in the nationwide ‘PLAY BALL’ initiative to encourage young people to participate in baseball- or softball-related activities.


Included in the special promotions for the ‘PLAY BALL’ Sunday with the Jumbo Shrimp are:


• Free Reserved Seat Ticket for each fan who donates baseball equipment at the box office on game day. One free ticket per donated item.

• Player Autographs by two Jumbo Shrimp players near the left-field berm from 5:55 p.m. to 6:10 p.m.
• Kids High Five Tunnel that will include up to 25 children giving High Fives to the Jumbo Shrimp team taking the field before the game. Winners will be selected from among those who email
• Kid Lineup Card on-field delivery by one lucky child during the pregame managers and umpires meeting at home plate.
• Kids Public Address Announcer for one inning announcing batters over the stadium public address.


In addition, the weekly Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNday promotions include:


• Pregame Catch on the Field from 5:30 p.m. to 5:50 p.m.
• Postgame Kids Run the Bases for all kids 12 and under.
• Free Face Painting & Balloon Animals on the concourse.
• Star Wars Characters for Star Wars Night.


UP NEXT: The Jumbo Shrimp continue a series in Pensacola at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday. Jacksonville returns home Sunday, June 4, for a 6:35 p.m. series opener with the Montgomery Biscuits. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. for Baptist Health Sunday Family FUNday with pregame catch on the field and concludes with kids 12 and under running the bases after the game. Free face painting, balloon animals, and Star Wars characters will be on the concourse for Star Wars Night.
