Shrimp character will partner with returning mascot Southpaw to entertain fans

The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp are asking fans to help name the new Shrimp mascot, who is presented by the Tom Bush Family of Dealerships and will be unveiled on Opening Night, Wednesday, April 12, at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. The contest winner will receive season tickets and a chance to participate in the unveiling ceremony.

“The new Shrimp mascot, and our returning mascot, Southpaw, represent the affordable family fun that fans can enjoy at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville,” said Jumbo Shrimp General Manager Harold Craw. “We look forward to hearing our fans’ creative name ideas for the newest addition to the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.”

A cartoon design of the new mascot is at From now through Tuesday, April 4, fans can submit names for the new mascot by going to any of the Tom Bush Family of Dealerships’ 10 locations, visiting, or sending an email to with the name suggestion in the subject line and his or her name, address, and phone number in the body of the message.

An online vote from among the top five names, as determined by the Jumbo Shrimp front office, will run from Wednesday, April 5, to Tuesday, April 11. The winning name will be announced as the mascot makes its official debut on Opening Night Wednesday, April 12. The winner of the contest will be selected at random from those fans who submitted the winning name.
