Robin Sorensen  and his brother Chris founded Firehouse Subs in 1994, in Jacksonville, Florida.   The Sorensen brothers and their family have over 200 years of firefighting service.  Firehouse Subs was founded to honor and celebrate their family’s firefighting heritage.

In just 14 short years, Firehouse Subs has grown from  one location to more than 441 restaurants across 26 states. Recently,  Firehouse announced plans to expand internationally with 26 locations in Puerto Rico.   Firehouse practices “smart growth” ensuring that each store has the right franchisee, in the right location and at the right time. Firehouse has established itself at or near  the top of the sub sandwich category in every market they serve.

In 2005, Firehouse launched the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, dedicated to providing  funding, life-saving equipment and educational opportunities to first responders in communities served by Firehouse Subs. To date the Foundation has given $2.6 million to local heroes, impacting 225 communities. The Foundation won the “National Chain” award from the National Restaurant Association’s Restaurant Neighbor Award for community service.

What is GrowJAX?

The GrowJAX Initiative was formed to nurture established businesses based in Northeast Florida and promote economic development inthe region. We serve second stage businesses with 10-99 employees and $1 million to $49 million in annual revenues, as they have the greatest potential for additional revenue growth and job creation. We raise awareness of who second stage companies are and show those companies the existing resources available to them, to support them to achieve greater success and business growth.

CEO Nexus Forum - An Educational Experience with Successful Entrepreneurs

The CEO Nexus Forum is a program of JAX Chamber and GrowJAX  to bring second stage CEOs  together in an casual setting with other entrepreneurs who have reached the pinnacle of success. Held on a quarterly basis, the program is free, by invitation only, to CEOs and/or their C-level executives of second stage companies.

PeerSpectives CEO Roundtables - A valuable learning and networking tool

PeerSpectives® Roundtables are an innovative peer-to-peer learning tool using a proven format that focuses on sharing experiences instead of giving advice. Participants interact with and learn from colleagues who often face similar leadership and business problems in a safe and confidential setting.

Roundtables are typically comprised of 10 to 12 individuals from non-competing second stage companies. The program is licensed by the Edward Lowe Foundation to economic development entities across the country.
